Weekend cover may suit an eligible driver borrowing a car for a trip or sharing a longer journey. Each driver must have suitable insurance; permission to borrow the car alone is not enough.
Choose the actual start and end dates for your trip. A long weekend may need more than two days, so review the duration offered rather than assuming a Saturday-to-Sunday limit.
The proposed driver must meet the policy criteria. Enter their details and the car information; do not assume visiting relatives are automatically covered.

If you’re borrowing someone else’s car, it is a legal requirement to make sure you are correctly insured.
Even if their car is insured already, that doesn’t mean that you are personally insured to drive it, and the same principle applies if you already have a car insurance policy in place – you shouldn’t assume you’re covered to drive someone else’s car.
Whilst some comprehensive annual policies can provide DOC (Drive Other Cars) cover, this is not always the norm for most policies and does often come with a few caveats.

DayCover’s published Terms of Business say temporary policies cannot be extended and do not renew automatically. If you need more time, request a new quote before the existing policy ends. A new policy is subject to acceptance; check its start time to avoid a gap.
Since they are separate from your annual policy, temporary car insurance policies won't affect your no claims bonus.
